February is the best time to visit Prague. Said no-one ever.

It is November 2017 and we are getting the shakes because we have no holidays booked for 2018. Enter a deal on secret escapes, 2 nights in a 4 star hotel in Prague for an absolute steal. The catch? In February. We did our research, the highest temperature we could hope for is 5 whole degrees....but we didn't get that, as you can tell from our chilly faces in the picture below.

We land and Pippa squeals with excitement because there is snow on the ground. Having grown up all over Africa, she has never seen snow. The rest of the trip, she would literally cross a road to go and step in it, touch it even. Adorable and entertaining, especially when she realises, and I am quoting now, 'It's cold and wet'. Yes, yes it is my darling African.

Still, we were more prepared than we look. We bought the coats above especially for the trip (best investment ever) and bought pocket hand warmers and foot warmers. I think thy saved Pippa's life. Now I am acting like it was -11, which it was the week after we went, phew right?! But it was around -2 every day with a chilly wind. How do the people of Prague survive this I hear you cry? Absinthe and Schnapps. That is their secret. And that is also the reason I have very little to say about Prague itself in this blog. It is pretty and old, but 2 days is long enough as it is small.

Some honorable mentions if you do go. Anonymous bar. This place is EPIC. Impossible to find, but when you do you are rewarded with the coolest cocktails served in weird and whacky ways but without it being tacky. It wasn't cheap, which is an achievement considering it was 21 Koruna to £1, but it was worth it.

Walk across the Charles bridge, go and see the castle and the astronomical clock. You wont regret it, and honestly, I do feel if it wasn't cold, it would lose a small amount of its charm. I guess the only way we will know for sure is if we go back in Spring...stay tuned.
