Workout Goals are hard, man!

Something that I was never really good at was working out, there is something not quite wired in my brain to make me want to do it (unlike my partner in fitness Kate - she can do it wherever whenever, like my girl Shakira.) The only time I have really seen a change in the way I look was when we started using a personal trainer, who demolished us on a weekly basis...


So you can understand why when we went into lockdown measures... Kate was a little nervous, cause honestly I could sit and do nothing all day (mostly gaming if the weather is bad or faffing in the garden). So I decided to make a change to my habits, it started off with changing my mindset... I was just focusing on the negatives, "Enough time, Enough Space, Enough Motivation etc". So we answered the problems:


  1. We converted the dining room into an office space for Kate, but also a home gym for us, complete with weights, yoga mats and resistance bands (so glad Kate had a full home gym before we moved in together)

  2. There is always enough time if you are prepared. But also you need to actually carve time out of your day in order to do this. My recommendation is to find something HIIT that you can do if you are like me and really don't want to workout for an age. I usually do Tabatas or skipping followed by weights.

  3. Have a goal in mind - mine is to work on my "bum and tum" I hate that phrase but is it better than abs and ass? I think I prefer the latter actually...

  4. Remember that you can still have rest days, even if you are not going into a gym you can still just have a lazy day, but also if you know that you get lethargic in the afternoon... maybe morning workouts are the way forward for you?

It is hard to change your mindset, but I think that having this time has helped me shape my goals when it comes to my health and my mental health, cause as much as I am not the biggest workout fan there is... them Endorphins though!
